CONTESTS

Eight years ago, as a way of keeping in touch with recently presenting companies, we began a series of contests wherein our members predicted the earnings. revenues or share trading, or researched information available on the companies' web sites. Many of these much-anticipated contests have now taken place and the following include some of the events that have resulted from these challenges:

The first participant was AFLAC, who invited the winners to visit their operations in Japan and Columbus GA. Air Transat provided trips to Florida on their airline; Mark Oliver, the CEO of Citizens Inc. invited the winners to visit CIA in Austin, Texas; an annual meeting invitation was extended by Lois Crandall of Genetronics in La Jolla, California; several trips for industry conventions in Calgary, Halifax and the Laurentians were offered by Jim Kinnear of Pengrowth, and Eric Tremblay of Enerplus offered trips to visit the head office of TEN in Athens Greece in November of 2002 and 2003.

Other contests were equally interesting and the prizes desirable, such as: Maple Leaf Gold coins offered by J. C. Potvin, the founder of Pangea Goldmines and Tiomin; Motorola micro-cell phones offered by Ted Carlson of TDS Inc. and US Cellular; a trip to the world's richest goldmine, in Red Lake, extended by Goldcorp's CEO Rob McEwen; a trip to accompany NCE's John Driscoll to Ft. Lauderdale to meet with investment professionals; a trip to Chile to be part of the first pouring of gold with Stephen Houghton, CEO of South American Gold and Copper Co. Ltd. In fact, there have been 35 of these contests so far, and each company has really outperformed the market since meeting with us.
