THE STOCKBROKER CLUB HISTORY

The AMEX/STOCKBROKER CLUB has existed since March 16, 1981. For the last 27 years it has brought together, through a pleasurable working-lunch format, some of the brightest investment minds in Canada.

At the head table of our inaugural meeting were Ned Goodman, Chairman of Campbell Resources, Monty Gordon, Ron Woods, Austin Beutel and Seymour Schulich. On that day 111 of Toronto's top brokers and money managers graced the Governor General's Room at the Toronto Hilton and now the tradition continues into our 28th year.

Following the successful launch in Toronto in March 1981, the AMEX/Stockbroker Club in Montreal had its inception lunch a year later in March 1982 with a presentation by Mr. Bram Appel , Chairman of Pall Corp (NYSE) a Long Island based company with revenues of $600 million. With David Pall, he co-founded the company when they were students at McGill way back in 1944. This very visible Montrealer, his friends and associates - Heward Stikeman founder of Canada's top law firm and of CAE Inc., Ms. Phyllis Bronfman Lambert internationally acclaimed architect, Cabinet Minister Marc Lalonde, fund managers Austin Beutel and Ned Goodman - shared the head table in the Blue Room at the Ritz Carlton Hotel ---- this phalanx, and the attendance of Montreal's top brokers and money managers, Rick Hart, Ian Soutar, John Dobson, Jack Carroll, Toni Raikes, Miriam Kastner, Derek Ramsay, Achille Desmarais, Jim Andriotti, Jean Trudeau, Diana Kuzniak, Andre Lemire, Marc-Andre Lacaille, Jim Kinnear, Hugh Alcorn, David Cobbett, Walter Droghini, Butch Zelikovitz, Tony Mosker, Pierre Casgrain etc. made the Club a great success from the outset.

For those of you who are long time members and friends, thank you. For those of you who have joined our ranks more recently, welcome, we look forward to a long and mutually beneficial relationship.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Over the course of our history, the success of companies that have presented at our meetings has been unparalleled: - 53 have risen more than 1,000%, and 155 have more than doubled in price within a short period (defined as less than 18 months). In the past year there were 12 price-doubling successes: Tsakos Energy Navigation, Bank Atlantic, ACE/Sonus, Goldcorp Corp., Teleplus Inc., Calian Tech., South American Gold and Copper, Home Capital, Medisystems, Apex Silver. YM Biosciences and Major Drilling. In addition, presentations by Canada's 4 best oil and gas income funds (Pengrowth, Acclaim, Enerplus and NAL) made 2003 our 5th. best year when measured by stocks advancing.

RAISON D'ETRE

As an experienced investment professional, Vernon McCreary was often surprised by how difficult and costly it could be to bring top executives and sophisticated investment professionals together. In 1981 he found the AMEX club (and later, this website) to bring these people together in a simple and inexpensive way. If you get a chance to talk personally with Vern a few things will be become apparent. He really enjoys seeing honest, hard-working people suceed because when they do they inevitably bring others along with them.
